The Student Health Center has two full-time nurses.  Mary Nealon, Coordinator of Student Health, is a certified pediatric nurse practitioner.  Hilde Darre is a registered nurse with a bachelor's degree in nursing. Both nurses maintain their New York State Licenses as Registered Nurses including Basic Cardiac LIfe Support (BCLS) CPR certification and infection control certification.  Mary Nealon is also a New York State licensed Pediatric Nurse Practitioner who also maintains Pediatric Nursing Certification.

The Student Health Center provides care for all students in grades K-8 currently enrolled in the school.  Every student at The School is required to have an annual physical by a certified New York State healthcare provider, and must meet the New York State Department of Education and the NYC Department of Health and Mental Hygiene's immunization criteria.  Faculty and staff at The School are required to have a physical upon hiring and once every two years thereafter.  Kindergarten faculty are required to meet NYS Early Childhood Education health criteria.

In addition to her school nursing responsibilities, Mary Nealon is a health education teacher who, among other teaching responsibilities, coordinates the The School's Comprehensive Gender and Sexuality Education and has taken the lead in creating the Middle Division Advisory Curriculum, which is a prevention-based lifeskills curriculum. Mary Nealon also provides training for faculty and parents in a range of childhood health issues.

In keeping with The School’s mission, the Student Health Center has become a training ground, offering student nurses from Columbia University School of Nursing community-based clinical rotations
