Rekha Puri

Rekha Sharma Puri has worked as a teacher and administrator in independent schools in India and New York and was, most recently, the Director of Admissions and a Founding Administrator of a new school in Manhattan. She was an Altman fellow at the Klingenstein Leadership Academy this past year. Rekha had the wonderful opportunity to work and learn at The Children's Storefront and at Riverdale Country School as part of her practicum requirement at the Klingenstein program. Rekha serves on AsEANY (Asian educators alliance, New York) and on the NYSAIS Diversity Committee. Rekha grew up in Malaysia, and attended a boarding school in India before graduating from Bombay University. Living in New York for the past sixteen years, she now claims to be a "global soul" as defined by Pico Iyer, one of her favorite writers. Her interests include art and architecture, cooking, travel and reading, and she shares these passions with her husband, Anuj, and their son, Siddhartha. Rekha writes, "Working at The School feels like a serendipitous culmination of my interests in different independent school models, professional learning communities, diversity, access and opportunity."
