The community of The School includes its faculty, students, parent body, advisors, and the neighbors of the Upper West Side. The School was founded with the belief that by bringing together communities like those within and around Columbia, new friendships and learning opportunities will emerge.
Being located on the Upper West Side, faculty members can easily take advantage of the incredible teaching resources within steps of The School's front door. Whether taking a trip to the Natural History Museum, the Cathedral of St. John the Divine, or the library at Columbia, students come to understand the city is another classroom. As well as visiting local cultural institutions, the businesses of the neighborhood provide many teachable moments.
